Planning to have a child and pregnancy
If you're pregnant or planning to become pregnant, it's a good idea to talk to your GP first. Your GP will guide and support you through your pregnancy journey, together with the NHS Maternity Service and Midwifery Team.
Midwives are specially trained to care for mothers and babies throughout pregnancy, labour and after the birth. Maternity services in York include antenatal, delivery and postnatal care and are delivered from hospital and in the community.
Your midwife can give you information, encouragement and emotional support during pregnancy and labour. They will also care for both you and your baby immediately after birth.
You can find out more about York Hospital Maternity Services online or you can telephone: 01904 726720.
