Building the local offer

During 2016 we have conducted a wide ranging consultation process with parents carers, young people and professionals to increase the awareness and improve the accessibility of York’s Local Offer.

The key points of our consultation and the action we have or will be taking are:

  • Our consultation included meeting with parents, carers and professionals at:
    • ADHD parent support group
    • autism parent support group
    • Lollitots parent support group at
    • Creepy Crawlies
    • volunteer parent mentors meeting
    • Integrated Services Conference
    • meeting with one family at home
  • And sending out a survey through:
    • Visual impairment specialist teaching team’s newsletter
    • York and District Dyslexia Association Online
    • York Carers Centre
    • Family Information Service (FIS) and the FIS newsletter
    • Hob Moor Oaks newsletter
    • Applefields newsletter

In total the consultation incorporated 25 parents and carers face-to-face, additional feedback from 5 parents from York Inspirational Kids Facebook page, 3 surveys completed, feedback from 6 young people at an advisory group and a large group of parents/ carers and professionals at the Integrated Services Conference.
