Help your child learn effective ways of reading and writing
York St John University, Creative Literacies Hub, are offering 2 free parenting programmes to help with your child’s reading and creative writing!
York St John Communities Centre have launched a free service at the Communities Centre: the Creative Literacies Hub.
The initiative is designed to support parents, carers, and their children in developing effective reading and creative writing skills within a comfortable and welcoming environment.
The Creative Literacies Hub offers 2 programmes:
1. Supporting Reading at Home
This programme is open to parents, caregivers, and children aged 5 to 11. Participants will learn techniques to assist their children in reading a diverse selection of texts. The first two sessions are for parents and caregivers, and children will join the remaining four sessions for interactive reading activities.
2. Creative Writing Together
This programme is designed for parents, caregivers, and children aged 7 to 14. Participants will engage in collaborative creative writing sessions, exploring various settings, characters, and plots, and experimenting with different perspectives within their story universe.
How to Enrol
To join the Creative Literacies Hub you can self-refer by completing the online self-referral form.
When completing the form, please ensure you state the age of your child and specify which programme(s) you wish to enrol in. You are welcome to sign up for both programmes if you wish.
