Early Years Practitioner

The key roles of this responsibility are:

• to assist with the planning of the curriculum
• to help set up the playroom for the daily programme and to help tidy up at the end of the session, ensuring that all toys and equipment are clean and safe at all times
• to act as a key person to a small group of children, ensuring each child’s needs are recognised and met
• to advise the manager of any concerns, for example, over children, child protection, parents/carers or the safety of equipment. Preserving confidentiality as necessary
• to teach children, offering an appropriate level of support and stimulation
• to be aware of any special needs a child may have and work closely with the group SenCo to support them
• assist with lunch time, offering support and interaction
• to attend staff meetings
• to keep completely confidential any information regarding the children, their families of other staff that is learned as part of the job

This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. All applicants will need to be checked for their suitability to look after children, and proof of identity will be required.

• hours: 30 hours per week minimum but could offer more, scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 8.00am to 6.00pm
